Who are we?

Hello.

I'm Laura, and LJH Tutoring is my baby. I'm in my 50s and am a mum to one teenage boy, three rescue cats and one rescue chihuahua.  I've been teaching since 2000, and have a lot of experience teaching English from KS2- KS4, maths KS2-KS4 and the AQA Psychology and Sociology specifications at KS5. I'm also an examiner for the Sociology AQA GCSE and A level. I have run my own tutoring business, LJH TUTORING, since 2015, having decided to leave the teaching profession. Easter 2022 saw my part time return to teaching in schools - my son is older, I have watched almost every daytime TV show produced and I missed adult conversation!

I have since then taught within the Psych/ Soc department of one one of Southend's grammar schools while also offering in school psychology intervention sessions at another local school, and have been Psychology Course Leader at one of the busiest colleges in the area. .

I'm a huge animal lover, have always loved roller skating (though as my years have increased, my bravery has decreased and I tend to prefer watching from afar these days), and I am an avid reader.

When I'm not working I like drinking cups of coffee before they go cold, showering while the water is still hot and sleeping.

Hello.

I'm Brian, I'm in my forties and have three boys: two still in primary school and one at a local grammar school.

I trained to teach at the University of Reading many moons ago and since then have worked in a variety of Essex schools, both comprehensive and grammar. I have worked as subject lead for both GCSE and A level English and now work as a Lead Practitioner, developing the skills of other teachers. I have been an examiner for AQA's English Language and Literature GCSE and currently mark an A level paper for Cambridge Education.

I spend my spare time playing Uber to my children  as well as reading, cooking and playing the piano and organ.
